Art for a Cause

“Rolling Hills” is a painting for a cause! The neighboring winery, Black Ankle Vineyards, put together a wonderful initiative for their vineyard workers. Project Rescate collects funds for a Sports and Recreation Center in Acopinalco del Peñón, Tlaxcala, Mexico. If you have ever done gardening or farming, especially in extreme weather conditions, you know how much work goes into growing a crop. These workers, many of them long-term, are working extremely hard to grow grapes for delicious wines, while being separated from their families eight months out of the year. Project Rescate is a way to give back to their community.

“Rolling Hills” will be donated for Black Ankle Vineayards’ silent auction on 15 August to collect funds. Acrylic on canvas, 6″x6″x1.5″ (15x15x3.8cm). The rich, thick layers of paint make for a vibrant and colorful display of a summer day in the rolling hills of Maryland. The sides are painted as well, and since this is a small painting, it makes for a nice display without a frame on a desk or side table.
